This accredited CPD unit is suited to practitioners who want to improve their practice in supporting children with specific needs. The unit covers topics such as

  • the principles of working inclusively with families of children/ young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND);
  • how to support age and developmentally appropriate learning, play and leisure opportunities;
  • how to evaluate, support and develop existing practice
  • how to work in partnership with other agencies and professionals to support provision for disabled children and young people and those with specific requirements

What can I do next/once qualified?

All learners:
• Related Level 3 qualifications
Practitioners who hold a full Level 3:
• CACHE Level 4 Certificate for the Early Years Advanced Practitioner
• CACHE Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Health and Social Care and Children and Young People’s Services

Course Delivery & Assessment

You will be supported by an assessor to improve quality within your workplace and demonstrate this within your portfolio. This will include keeping reflective logs, writing case studies and professional discussions.
If you prefer e-learning, the e-platform, delivered in partnership with The Communication Trust using ‘Platform3: Study, Learn and Qualify’. It allows you to study online with access to a range of electronic materials and activities.
If you prefer classroom based learning, you can choose to attend the Talk for All course, which is delivered over two days by a speech and language therapist
